Chapter 13 Summary

Marguerite Olsen invites Shadow over for dinner. He stops at Mabel's Restaurant. The owner, Mabel, tells him Hinzelmann was looking for him to go ice fishing, and Chad wants Shadow to meet his cousin. Shadow goes back to his apartment and Wednesday calls. Wednesday tells him he is having a hard time getting the gods to go along with his plans. The new gods want to have a peace meeting to discuss a truce, and Wednesday is going to meet them. To kill time, Shadow reads the book of Lakeside council minutes he bought at the library. A man named Hinzelmann was instrumental in building the man-made lake, and Shadow notes this so he can tell the current Hinzelmann that one of his ancestors built the lake.
