Chapter 9 Summary

Shadow Moon and Mr. Wednesday leave Illinois and drive into Wisconsin. Shadow asks who the men were that grabbed him at the restaurant, Mr. Wood and Mr. Stone, and Wednesday says they are members of the opposition. Shadow asks how he and the other gods got away, and Wednesday says not to ask. They stop to eat and Wednesday tells Shadow about some of his favorite cons. Wednesday hits on the waitress and plans to meet her later. He gives Shadow an apartment key and tells him to go to an apartment in Lakeside, where he will live under the name Mike Ainsel. Wednesday gives Shadow his new id, and says he will meet him there in a week.
