Chapter 7 Summary

Shadow is walking when he hears helicopters and hides. After they leave, he meets a crow who comes from Wednesday, and tells Shadow that Wednesday will see him in Cairo, and to find Jackal. The crow leads Shadow back to a road and a gas station. The attendant tells him where he could rent a car and that Cairo is in Illinois. Shadow buys a car from the woman's brother-in-law. He stops to sleep and dreams about the buffalo man again. A woman named Sam wakes him up by tapping on the window. Shadow gives her a ride. Sam tells him about her studies, and he tells her about his wife. They also talk about gods, although Shadow doesn't tell her what he's doing. He drops her off in El Paso, Illinois.
