Chapter 27 Summary

Paul D comes back to 124. He goes to the cold house. Stamp Paid meets him there. The voices Stamp heard around the outside of the house are gone. Mr. Bodwin is selling the house.

Stamp tells him about what happened on the day that Beloved disappeared. Paul D learns that Sethe tried to stab Mr. Bodwin with an ice pick. Ella managed to punch Sethe and get her down. Mr. Bodwin just wants to know who the naked black woman on the porch was. The women who were there said that Beloved was big, but Paul D seems to think it was someone else because Beloved was small when he knew her.
