Chapter 10 Summary

The story moves back to Paul D's imprisonment in Georgia. After trying to kill a man named Brandywine, Paul D is sent to a prison camp in Georgia. He and 45 other slaves are locked in wooden boxes set up in a trench. They are awoken every morning by the sound of a rifle. They walk out of their boxes and they are chained together. On their knees, they are sometimes forced to perform fellatio on the guards. Then they go out to the quarry to break rocks all day. After that, they are unchained and put back into their boxes at night.

After 86 days in the Georgia prison camp, it starts to rain very hard. They cannot work, so they are put back into their boxes still chained together. The water forms.....
