Chapter 6 Summary

Beloved is fascinated by Sethe. Every day, she goes out to meet Sethe as she walks back from work. Sethe enjoys the attention. Beloved asks Sethe about her diamond earrings. Sethe tells her that she had pair of crystal earrings given to her by Mrs. Garner when Sethe got married. Sethe then explains how she stole cloth to make herself a wedding dress. It was ugly, but she was proud of it. Sethe tells Beloved that Baby Suggs pierced Sethe's ears when she arrived in Cincinnati. However, Sethe lost her earrings some time back.

Sethe wants to undo Denver's braids, but Denver does not want her to do it just yet. Beloved asks Sethe if her mother ever did her hair. Sethe says.....
