Chapter 2 Summary

Shadow Moon tells Mr. Wednesday he has a job waiting for him with his friend Robbie Burton, but Wednesday tells Shadow that his friend is dead. They sit down to eat in Jack's Crocodile Bar. Wednesday gives Shadow a newspaper, and Shadow reads about his wife's death and Robbie's death in a car accident. Shadow believes Robbie was probably too drunk to drive. Shadow takes a quarter from his pocket and asks Mr. Wednesday to call it while he flips it. He tells him he doesn't want to work for anyone that has worse luck than he does. Wednesday calls heads, but Shadow says he rigged it and it is tails. Wednesday tells him to look again, and Shadow sees it is heads.
