Summary

Part Two is titled Tendrils and Teeth. In Chapter 11, Queen Sequoia reveals there were two tribes in Pantala before Clearsight arrived – the LeafWings and the BeetleWings. They came to Pantala to escape problems in the Distant Kingdoms. The BeetleWings were the original tribe that was split into SilkWings and HiveWings much later. Queen Sequoia says the LeafWings and BeetleWings faced terrible adversity in the form of insects, snakes, lions, and crows that drove the dragons into the sea and killed those who could not escape. The creatures acted as a unit. Cricket's first question is whether this means the plant works on any creature. Sundew wants to know who was controlling them. Sequoia says the dragons never found out who was controlling the creatures, but they discovered the attacks stopped when they killed out a specific vine (now known as breath of evil...
