Summary

In Chapter Ten, Tess, Lucy, and Liam are reading when Mary knocks on the window. Tess’ uncle Phil tells her he is ashamed of the way his daughter, Felicity, has acted. He takes Liam so Mary, Tess, and Lucy can talk. Mary tells Tess she doesn’t believe Felicity had any intent for the affair to happen. Lucy is hateful to her sister. Tess thinks back about how well Felicity and Will had always gotten along together. Mary tells Tess that Phil hadn’t wanted her to come. He was afraid she’d do more harm than good. However, Mary doesn't think that she can stand it if Tess and Felicity become estranged. Tess tells her that she may have to stand it.
