Summary

Chapter 17

Katie, Ty, and James crowd together to read the article, and Katie is terribly shaken. She tells them that she locked Dillow in the car and left. She can tell that they aren't sure if they should believe her or not. James appears openly hostile while Ty looks as if he pities her.

Katie explains that maybe whoever killed Dillow did it because Dillow actually started to believe her. Maybe he asked too many questions. She feels guilty because she took his gun and he couldn’t defend himself against whoever shot him. James suggests that her fingerprints are probably all over the police car. Katie thinks that maybe whoever killed Officer Dillow did it to put the blame on her.

The three of them figure out that the men are easily tracking Katie because she has Brenner’s phone. She immediately...
