Epilogue Summary

Cortana thinks about John saying he thought he had seen the symbols before. She thinks that John is correct because they are the same symbols John saw when he boarded the Covenant ship in 2525 and on the granite rock he retrieved from the Covenant. When Cortana compares these symbols to star formations, she finds startling similarities.

As the ship is entering normal space, Cortana wakes the Captain and crew from their cryo sleep. The crew encounters a ring that Cortana scans and determines is artificial. She says it doesn't match any known Covenant objects. When Cortana says she doesn't know what the ring is, the Captain says that they better find out.

Epilogue Analysis

The crew has reached an artificial ring orbiting in space. The novel ends here, presumably to the leave the opening for another novel in the series.
