Chapter 24 Summary

John returns to planet reach. The guard at the gate directs John where to report. John reveals through his thoughts that the Spartan existence was a secret in the military until three years ago when Admiral Stanforth insisted on it going public as a morale booster. Corporal Harland greets Master Chief John inside of the military installation. When he asks John how to join the Spartans, John thinks that he never joined, but was chosen to be a Spartan 25 years earlier by Dr. Halsey. Captain Keyes comes in and he and John meet for the first time face-to-face. What John doesn't realize is that Captain Keyes was the man that went with Dr. Halsey on the first day they observed him as child in the school.
