Chapter 4. Sblood Summary

Lucy discusses why she believes people use the supernatural to explain the unexplainable. They do it because they don't have anything else to explain it so they resort to the supernatural. She believes that the first vampire was the man who first extracted insulin from a cow pancreas and injected into a man who needed the insulin. She calls him a "would be vampire". Lucy's last name is revealed as Szabo. She discusses how much she knows about vampires and what they are really like. Her mother leaves her some beans and she checks her blood then eats. She explains that if she doesn't get enough insulin that her glucose levels get to high and she can die. Furthermore, if she gets too much insulin, her blood sugar gets too low and she can also die.
