Chapter 2. Friendship Summary

Lucy does not have any best friends. She used to have a friend named Kathy who moved away and though trying to stay friends, she has lost touch over the last few months. Her closest person to a best friend is a boy she has grown up with named Mark. Lucy is dressed in mostly black clothing matched with dark sunglasses and military boots. She is pretending to read while fantasizing about what her life will be like once she is eighteen and has moved out of the house. She pictures herself smoking and hanging out in a coffee shop. Her fantasy is interrupted by Mark asking her if she is coming to the block party on Sunday. Lucy says no and mocks the idea of going to a block party.
