Alai sends an encrypted message to Virlomi asking if they can be lovers and apologizes for the wounds he has caused.

Peter visits Bean and tells Bean he is needed in Rwanda to command the military. Peter compares Starman to himself saying that they are both ambitious and looking to create something that will outlive them. Starman doesn't not know of Bean's short lifespan and Peter does not want him to know until Rwanda has pledged allegiance to the CFP. Peter tells him the funds for finding his children have been cut off. Bean knows this is due to the cutoff of Ender's pension. Bean visits Volescu in confinement, but they only bicker with Velescu saying that his plan to improve humanity will succeed.
