Peter Wiggin sends an email to Ambul to accept Suriyawong as a valuable tool; both are battleschool graduates. Bean spends his days trying to locate his babies. Achilles and Volescu had promised to return them, butBean doesn't even find a trace of Volesu's travels. An I.F. operative, Mazer Rackham, is on earth to offer Bean the chance to survive until a cure can be found by sending him on a starship at lightspeed equipped with an ansible, so he can be reached when the cure is found.
