Louis Vullion

The maddog is a psychotic killer, as the book opens. He is originally from East Texas where his first victim was a high school classmate who had offended him. In his second year of law school in Dallas, he killed a hooker, his second victim. The maddog is a meticulous planner who tries to perfect his techniques with each killing. As a lawyer in the Twin Cities, he studies various murder investigations and further develops his techniques.

He associates sexual pleasure with killing since he experienced his first orgasm as a child when he was torturing and killing squirrels. As he grows older, the killings take on a more intellectual thrill. He is playing a game against the police and is certain that he can't be caught.
