Chapter 9-10 Summary

Jennifer Carey tells Lucas she's decided to go on half-time work with the studio as a producer and have a baby. Lucas offers to marry her but she says no. She tells him that she wants to interview the survivor, meaning Carla, but he tells her that the Chief said no. He calls Carla to arrange the interview before Jennifer finds her identity and says he will drive her to his lake cabin afterward. When Lucas calls the Chief's office, he is told to come in immediately. They have found a welfare worker who is a suspect. Jennifer, who was listening on the extension, picks up on the name Ruiz. Lucas says he will set up the interview for that evening and Jennifer agrees not to report on what she overheard.
