Holy Ghost (A Virgil Flowers Novel) Overview

John Sandford’s thriller and suspense novel, Holy Ghost, is the author’s eleventh novel featuring Minnesota state investigator Virgil Flowers. The narrative tells of Virgil’s investigation into the sniper-like shooting of two pilgrims who have come to the once dying town of Wheatfield, Minnesota to hopefully witness the appearance of the Virgin Mary at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. As he conducts his investigation, stakeouts and arrests, Virgil shows that he is a man who understands the nuances of the law, a team player, and a superior hunter. Themes related to the role of women in society, the power of money, things not being what they seem, morality, and small town life are prevalent in the narrative.
