Chapter 23-25 Summary

When Vullion reaches home, he can't believe that the police didn't follow him. He bathes, washes his clothes, cleans the car, and gathers all of the items he uses in his crimes into a garbage bag. He tears up the newspaper stories and flushes the down the toilet. Taking a cab to the airport, he rents a car, having decided to keep his own out of sight. He drive on the Interstate into Wisconsin, stopping to deposit pieces of garbage along the way. He makes sure that he scatters the evidence in different places so it will be next to impossible to track. He spent the night in an Eau Claire to motel. He mentally replays the whole evening and realizes that the McGowan house was under surveillance and he walked into it.
