Revenge

Revenge is a common motivation to many of the characters in Peter and the Shadow Thieves. The story is part of a series, and often refers back to events in a previous book in the series where Peter had interacted with some of the characters. Captain Hook, for example, is motivated to capture and kill Peter out of revenge for Peter's foiling him in a previous encounter. Peter's ongoing torment of Hook deepens his drive to seek revenge so that he kidnaps Peter's friends in an attempt to capture Peter. Hook's vengeful plan is finally thwarted by Peter and the boys, however, and he is left even more desirous of revenge than before.

The character of Slank is motivated by revenge, as well, also over a previous incident with Peter. Slank goes along with Ombra's scheme because he believes it will bring him back into contact with Peter...
