Chapter 48 Summary

John follows Jill to SUNY College of Old Westbury, where they leave John's car, and John drives Jill's car back towards Manhattan. John drives wildly to evade anyone who might be following them. As they drive, John tells Jill that she is on the right side of truth and justice now. Jill asks why they cannot just call the police, and John tells her it is because he is not sure who is on the wrong side. He tells Jill that they're going to need to put her up in a hotel room in Manhattan, and Jill suggests the Plaza Hotel. She calls the Plaza and reserves a two-room suite, and then John tells Jill to turn off her cell phone because she could be detected through cell phone triangulation.
