Chapter 14 Summary

John and Kate get into a cab and head to their office at 26 Federal Plaza in lower Manhattan. The cab driver is Arab, and John asks him questions about the TWA crash. John baits the driver by suggesting to him that the Jews took down the plane just to blame Muslims and that the same was true of the 1993 World Trade Center bombing and other terrorist acts. Kate tells John to shut up. They arrive at their office building. Kate and John walk up to their offices, first agreeing that they will tell the truth about their snooping into the crash if anyone asks.

Chapter 14 Analysis

John is revealed here as a politically incorrect smart aleck, and Kate is his counterpart. She is more sophisticated and reserved, and she handles the flak that John gives her well.
