Chapter 36 Summary

Rosenthal arrives at the hotel. He is clearly annoyed at having been dragged out of bed in the middle of the night. John tells him that he wants to see the receipt books for the videotape lending library. Rosenthal tells John that they got rid of the lending library several years ago but that they have kept the receipts. Rosenthal takes John to a storage room, where John finds receipts dating from June 12 to July 25 1996. A page has been razored out of the books, and John knows that the FBI agents have already gotten to the book.

As John and Rosenthal are about to leave the room, John remembers what Roxanne said about the pink carbon copies. John asks Rosenthal what happens to the pink receipts. Rosenthal explains that they are given back to the guests when the books or videotapes are returned...
