Chapter 9-10 Summary

Major Jack Stecker, father of Pick, is on Guadalcanal. He meets with Lieutenant Colonel Edson. Edson explains the details of the Japanese attack to Stecker. They both feel that the Japanese stopp the attack early because they meet more resistance than they expect.

On September 13, six F4F Wildcats are delivered to Henderson Field making Captain Galloway very happy. They are down to their last three aircraft. They now face the question of how to get the pilots of Guadalcanal, given the situation with the Japanese. They will join the fighting units until they can leave Guadalcanal later that day when an R4D comes for them.
