Summary

Chapters 23 and 24

Khalid’s left ear is badly damaged from the relentless music in the isolation room, causing him so much pain that he is unable to sit up to eat. Lee-Andy had given him aspirin when he returned and confirmed that Tariq was in the cell next door to him. When Lee-Andy finally returns, she makes a miracle happen. Two guards come back and without shackles take him outside and into a building he has not been in before. The hospital has others in it, and Khalid sits groaning until a doctor checks him out, telling him that putting his fingers in his ears gave him an infection and armed with antibiotics, sends him back to his cell. He is given his pills and a painkiller making the pain almost bearable. He begins to question why Lee-Andy’s presence and her intervention...
