Summary

Chapters 3 and 4

The plane lands in Karachi and Khalid is immediately struck by the mayhem of the area and the stifling heat. They pile into an old taxi and begin the journey through the city while his father delivers parcels and notes for friends at home to their family and friends in Karachi. His father points out places from his childhood. They finally reach his aunt’s home – a box with windows that does little to impress Khalid.

After the initial greetings are over, gifts are given and tea is had, Khalid becomes bored, and one of his aunt’s takes him out of the room and shows him their small computer room. She encourages him to use it. It takes only a short time before he overcomes the language difference and manages to find his way to Tariq’s game. They play...
