Summary

In Chapter 17, Matthew continues to follow leads in the hope of finding Benjamin and the witch he is holding hostage, but without results. Diana and Lucy spend weeks plowing through notes about the transfer of the Voynich manuscript, hoping to find out who had the Ashmole pages that were once in the Voynich book. Matthew summons Diana to from the library to the lab and she invites Lucy along, considering how much time Lucy has spent helping with research. There, a student has discovered the page from the Ashmole manuscript weighs much more than a typical page and that the weight changes. One student suggests the entire book is a “magical container.”

In Chapter 18, a young man approaches Diana and she recognizes him as Jack who had lived with her as a youngster in 1590. The encounter turns deadly for a moment. Matthew sees...
