Summary

In Chapter 4, several family members gather as Marcus and Baldwin engage in a heated argument. Marcus demands retribution for Emily's death and the men argue about the roles of the Knights of Lazarus (Marcus is currently in charge of that group) and the Congregation (Baldwin sits on that board along with Knox and Gerbert). Marcus also called for the elimination of the covenant, a formal law banning interaction between vampires, witches, and daemons that make relationships like Diana and Matthew's illegal. Baldwin says the Congregation refused to consider it and now want to disband the Knights of Lazarus. Knox has been forced off the Congregation but claims he did not kill Emily.
