Summary

The Warden holds up a tortured Scholar child as a hostage to prevent Elias from attacking him. He tells Elias that he wants to experiment on him by trapping him in the interrogation block.

Helene learns that Mamie is being interrogated and refuses to reveal any information, although she did accidentally imply that Elias was traveling north with Laia. The Tribes are rioting in response to these interrogations. Helene researches Harper to learn more abut him and meets with Cook, who has a gaping, infected wound. Helene heals the wound using her healing power in exchange for Cook telling her that Elias and Laia are going toward Kauf Prison.
