Summary

Elias rides a horse alone across the desert towards Kauf. He makes good progress but once he reaches a river, his horse attempts to turn around. The Soul Catcher appears and informs Elias that he is about to enter her territory–the Forest of Dusk, which is where the Waiting Place lies. She leads him supernaturally quickly into the forest, where he again sees the demonic version of Tristas. The Soul Catcher informs him that he must convince Tristas to let go of his hatred and move on from the Waiting Place. Elias searches for Tristas for several days, with no success. He discovers that the Soul Catcher is a type of demonic being, a Jinn. She states that she made a mistake long ago and is being punished for it by serving as the Soul Catcher.
