This book is a light hearted autobiography. The objective of this lesson is to review some major aspects of Ellen DeGeneres's life and to discuss how the autobiographical nature affects the overall tone of the book.

Lesson

1) Life Review of Author: Provide a brief overview of Ellen DeGeneres's life along with some of the major events in her life. Split the class into groups and assign each group one of the major events from her life. Instruct each group to study their event and write about how this event would have shaped her life and affected her writing style. Allow each group to present their information. Discuss some of the different ideas that are presented.
