Contemporary Advancements in Science

Give students the opportunity to conduct independent research, and complete a 1-2 page paper discussing advancements in the sciences since the book's publication. What major discoveries have been made in the past 10 years?

Science and Philosophy

Many, if not most, of the astronomers, cosmologists, etc. discussed in the text also have a history in philosophy. What is the correlation? Give students the opportunity to research the philosophies of one or more of the individuals from the book and present a presentation discussing how philosophy and science intertwined.

News Article

Ask students to look in their local newspaper for an article that involves some aspect of the text and bring it to class. They will present it in front of the class and explain why it relates to the text or persons.
