Chapters 76 - 80 Summary

Dennis is now Thomas' butler and was afraid of him at first, but feels mostly ignored now. Thomas would often drink himself into a deep slumber and would insist Dennis stay with him. Dennis is sleeping in Thomas' room with him when he realizes that Thomas has gotten up. Dennis follows. This is happening because Thomas has been having trouble sleeping, and Flagg is not there to give him a sleep potion. Flagg is off looking for the exiled families. Dennis follows Thomas down a quiet corridor and through a secret door in the wall, suddenly afraid. Fifty miles away, Flagg cries out in his sleep. Dennis follows Thomas through the secret door and thinks Thomas is asleep until he hears him cry to someone not to drink the wine.
