Chapters 71 - 73 Summary

Peter spends five years at the top of the Needle. Several times in the winter, he becomes deathly ill, and it seems he might die, but he recovers. During one such illness, Peter sees his father and is promised he will have justice someday. Peter works on the rope during the majority of his time, taking as few as five threads from the napkins so the theft will not be noticed. Peter is concerned with the thinness of the rope, so he tests it several times and finds that it will hold his weight. Peter is excited by this development. Peter needs to find a better place to hide his rope, so when he finds some loose stones in the floor, he removes them. Peter explores inside the hole and discovers.....
