Chapters 56 - 59 Summary

Beson goes to Peyna's house after dark, but the butler does not recognize him because of the beating Peter has given him. The butler, Arlen, reluctantly agrees to inform Peyna of Beson's presence but does not allow Beson into the house. Arlen informs Peyna of his visitor, even though Peyna has a policy against visitors so late at night. Peyna agrees to take the letter when Peter's name is mentioned, and has Arlen escort Beson into the kitchen to wait his answer. Peyna briefly thinks of throwing the letter in the fire but decides to give in to his curiosity and read the letter. In the letter Peter announces that he has decided to live. Peter writes also that he wants Peyna to finance a payment to Beson for special privileges.....
