Kyungha's Apartment
Kyungha's apartment is located in a complex on the outskirts of Seoul. She moved here a few years prior to the narrative present, effectively leaving her family and friends behind. Although she has been here for some time, Kyungha has left her things "wherever the movers had blithely unpacked them" (6). She spends "most of [her] time in bed" although she can barely sleep (6). Otherwise, she lies on the floor or takes cold showers. She avoids writing, cooking, or socializing. Her primary occupations while at her flat are trying to decide on a beneficiary for her will or taking a brief outing to a nearby restaurant for juk. Kyungha's life here is thus defined by loneliness and isolation. It affords her no sense of comfort or home, which is one of the reasons that Kyungha barely even thinks about her apartment when she is away in Jeju.
