Summary
In Chapter 4, “Birds,” Kyungha gets off the bus in the village and starts walking. She hopes to find a shop where she can buy “a lantern and a hand shovel” to clear the path to Inseon’s house (68). Nothing is open and she continues on her way until she finds a bus stop, where an old woman is sitting on the bench. She reminds Kyungha of Inseon’s mother. She remembers their first meeting and her odd, skeptical manner. Kyungha;s mind drifts to Inseon’s film projects. Meanwhile, she studies the snow, remembers snowflake facts, and wonders if Ama is okay.
The old woman sits quietly beside Kyungha. She tries asking her about the bus, but the woman barely responds. Kyungha's stomach starts spasming. She needs some juk and realizes she will not make it to Inseon’s before dark...
