Goodbyes Summary

Charlie is waiting up for Bella to come home. Bella realizes she is about to hurt her father very much. The vampires promise to keep Charlie safe during the crisis. Bella pretends to fight with Edward. She pretends to want to leave Forks because she does not want to stay stuck in Forks with the man she loves, to repeat the same terrible mistake her mother made so many years ago. These words cut her father to the core. Bella gets into the truck with Edward and Emmett and they speed away, trying to outrun James, the vampire hunting Bella. Edward says that James is delighted with the game of defeating the Cullen clan and claiming Bella.
