Invitations Summary

This chapter begins with Bella's first dream of Edward. In the dream, she is chasing him but cannot catch him.

During the month after the accident, everyone pays Bella so much attention that she is embarrassed. In particular, the owner of the van, Tyler, tries to make amends for the accident, though Bella tries to convince him not to do so. Edward seems to be fighting himself not to talk to Bella, even though she tries to. Mike, however, pursues Bella confidently. Mike even reveals to Bella that he likes her and wants her to invite him to the girls' choice dance. Bella lets him down gently, saying that she is going out of town.

In Biology, Edward talks a little to Bella but tells her that it's better if they are not friends. This hurts her and they have a small fight...
