Summary

The Prologue is set in Wyoming. A man named Marcus Boykin drives from his rural home to the city of Jackson three times each week where he can eat gourmet food with expensive wine and lattes while reading the Wall Street Journal. James Reece knows about Boykin's trips, including the exact time he reaches a specific spot on U.S. 89. Reece hikes in several hours from where he parks his truck, looking exactly like the many other hunters in the woods. He has chosen the spot already and settles in the evening before Boykin's arrival. Reece thinks about his deployments to Afghanistan.
