Point of View

The novel is written from numerous first person points of view. The first person point of view works well with the psychological thriller genre because the reader is only privy to the information the various characters have when the novel is told from their narration. This makes it possible for the author to conceal the identity of Jay until the very end of the novel and to build suspense over who is stalking Nathaniel until Eve is shown to be alive.

Part 1 opens with Eve’s point of view, and while the narration is told by her, she comes across as bitter. Her husband’s popularity is evident, and she appears jealous and ungrateful for what she has.
