Summary

Eve is not enjoying her birthday. She thinks about how her parents were correct when they did not think she should marry Nate.

When Addie gets to Mr. Bennett’s class in Chapter 22, Mr. Bennett can tell that she is upset, and he gives her a pass to go home early. Instead of going straight home, she goes past Kenzie’s house for the second time since having stolen the girl’s keys.

Addie almost goes into Kenzie’s large house in Chapter 23, but she does not want to risk the consequences. Addie tells her mom that she does not want to go visit her father’s grave. Addie believes that because of his alcoholism and physically abusive nature towards her mother, her father does not deserve their visits. They go out to dinner.
