Summary

In the Prologue, the as-of-yet unnamed protagonist is digging an unmarked grave. She knows that if she is caught, she will go to jail for the rest of her life.

In Part 1, Chapter 1, math teacher, Eve, and her English teacher husband, Nate, get ready together for the first day of school. Their sex life is routine. Nate asks Eve if her Jimmy Choo shoes are new, and she tells him that they are not.
