Summary

Chapter 31 picks up with the meeting involving Letty, Vikki, and Joe. Vikki agrees that Evan does not want Maya back because he loves her, but believes he sees her as “an asset.” Letty does not understand why Vikki cannot simply arrest Evan for trying to have Letty killed. Letty says prosecutors do not feel they can prosecute the case at this point. Joe agrees that soliciting a murder is difficult to prove. They discuss how to push Evan into a mistake that can be prosecuted. Letty warns that he is smart and careful. Vikki promises to keep Letty's location secret.
