Summary

Part One, Chapters Two and Three

In Chapter Two, it is 2007 and Spirit-in-the-Woods is struggling. Edie and Manny try to recall the children who’ve come through the camp and gone on to become successes. At the conclusion of the chapter, Manny tells Edie that she will read a letter that has come to them from Ethan and Ash.

In Chapter Three, Dennis and Jules Boyd read the Christmas letter from Ethan and Ash. Although Dennis and Jules have stayed close to the couple through the years, Jules cannot help but feel envy of her friends’ successful lives whenever she and her husband read their glowing Christmas letters.
