Summary

Part One, Chapter One

Overcoming one’s demons is the major theme of the novel The Interestings by Meg Wolitzer. The story follows a group of six friends who meet at a summer camp for the arts camp. As they find their places in life, the six deal with their downfalls, prejudices, fears, and insecurities. The main character Jules Jacobson-Boyd learns that even with the sadness that each character deals with in his life, life is interesting enough to keep them going.

Julie Jacobson is invited to join a group which decides to call themselves the Interestings. She isn’t sure why she has been invited, but she is honored to be there.
