Section 13: Chapters 31, 32 & 33 Summary

In Chapter 31: Ton-Ton, Ton-Ton is very knowledgeable about what goes on inside the Keepers' compound because he is allowed to clean their rooms since they believe he is too slow-witted to understand what he sees, but Matt realizes Ton-Ton is very intelligent and simply careful about sharing his opinions. Ton-Ton tells Matt and Luna about the luxuries the Keepers enjoy, and when he mentions that the Keepers take laudanum every night, Matt realizes that the compound is left unguarded while the Keepers turn into zombies. Jorge forces Matt and Ton-Ton to return to work the next day, but Matt is eager to plot his escape, intending to take Chacho and Fidelito with him. At Matt's insistence, he, Chacho and Fidelito wait for Ton-Ton because he knows things they need to find out. Ton-Ton is suspicious at first, but he tells them...
