Chapter Four Summary

In Chapter Four Alexia ignores Lord Maccon's advice and goes to the vampire hive. She meets the queen as well as several older vampires who seem to be counselors to the queen. The three males don't want Alexia in their hive at all. Because Alexia is a preternatural, they see her as their enemy and stay away from her. The queen invites her in and is very cordial to her. The queen even allows Alexia to touch her. Alexia can see some of her human side from years ago as the queen and Alexia touch. Alexia is offered a fine meal even though the vampires might take a bite for politeness's sake, they do not eat food. Alexia sees many of the secrets of the hive while she is in it.
