Chapter Thirteen Summary

Stephanie goes to see Sal Bocha under the guise of buying fish for dinner. While in the butcher shop, Stephanie spots a man fitting the description of the missing mystery witness. Sal tells Stephanie that the man, whose name is Louis, works for a distribution company and often makes deliveries to the shop. Louis also takes away barrels filled with scraps that are used for dog food.

The pieces start to fall into place. While there may not be a connection between Sal and Kulesza, it makes sense that Louis was the driver of the refrigeration truck parked behind Carmen's apartment building on the night Kulesza was shot. Maybe Kulesza and Louis were working as clean up detail to hide Ramirez's indiscretions with Carmen.

Stephanie decides to stake out the butcher shop for a while. Louis and Sal talk out front...
